Christina DiArcangelo had the recent pleasure of being invited to speak this month in Boston at an Oncology Conference hosted by Arena entitled as:
CLINICAL OPERATIONS IN ONCOLOGY TRIALS EAST COAST 2022
Christina DiArcangelo was requested to speak about the need within the traditional Pharmaceutical industry to work with patient advocacy groups like her, Affinity Patient Advocacy.
CD was honored to discuss her journey of being her father, Albert J DiArcangelo, Sr.’s patient advocate when he was dying of Stage 4 Liver, Lung and Stomach cancers. This journey was very eye opening for CD as that is the sole reason why she started Affinity Patient Advocacy.
Christina described her father’s last day of his life and some of the missteps with his medical care and treatment. Coordinating medical treatments, asking the right questions, mitigating risk, and trying to understand everything that is going on with your loved one is not an easy process. Patients and their families need support.
In CD’s humble opinion, the traditional pharmaceutical industry is not proactively accessing patient advocacy firms. The patient advocates are the people that truly understand the patient’s therapeutic issues, and develops a relationship with the patient from the beginning. The patient advocates have the ability to share with the pharmaceutical company information and data that they are receiving directly from the type of patients that the pharmaceutical company is trying to recruit.
It is time for the pharmaceutical industry to do better, be better and rise up to truly learning what the patients need. The patients deserve better.
